Smart Shopping

Find, compare and buy your groceries easier than ever.

Travelers are coming to New Zealand for different reasons. Students, backpackers, and tourists are just a few groups of people here. Their purpose for traveling might be different, but their needs are pretty common, things like food, accommodation, and transportation. This project is focused on grocery shopping. Starting to shop in your new environment on a budget can be pretty tricky and confusing sometimes.

There are different places for shopping, some of them are big brands, such as Countdown, and some are just small local or convenience stores. The challenge here was making an App that lets the users find their grocery needs online, then compare them and finally find the best and closest place to go for.

Design

Based on the fact that the application is made for smartphones, and specifically for Apple users, the design was planned to follow some pre-establish templates or better to say iOS standards, that are already proved and tested. All Apple cellphone users are familiar with some basic design and functionalities in iOS. We found it much more efficient to go along with the same standards for two reasons:

  1. Get user attention and make the app easy to use and navigate throughout all pages.
  2. Make our design easier to develop (less time consumer when designing it).
We want the users to find it easy to navigate through the application, so they would be able to find products, compare prices easily, create lists and find the nearest branch for both shops (Countdown and New World Metro).
